The Gift

So… Some very important people finally meet this episode! But first…

Jon and Tormund Giantsbane (the wildling) prepare to go beyond the wall to gather the other wildlings to fight the coming White Walkers. Sam gives Jon some dragonglass, just in case. Maester Aemon is sick. When Gilly brings little Sam to visit, he is reminded of Aegon, his little brother. Maester Aemon tells Gilly to bring little Sam south, before it’s too late…

It can always be worse.

Sansa hasn’t been faring well since her wedding night. She asks Theon to help her, but he’s too afraid of Ramsay to do much. He tells her to just do what Ramsay says, otherwise he’ll hurt her. He’s already hurt her, from the bruises on her arm.. but okay, Theon, be a chicken. Sansa gives Theon a candle for him to light on top of the broken tower so that Brienne (who told the old man at the inn she’s ehre to help the last Stark, who told the old maid lady, who told sansa this) can help her. Theon looks like he was psyching himself up, then finally nods to agree to help her. He trudges in the snow (winter is coming muahaha) to the broken tower… up and up the stairs to the top… only to find that Ramsay has made himself quite at home there with his office. Ugh. Ramsay. Kill him already please. Brienne waits outside Winterfell for the sign… looks like it isn’t coming anytime soon.

You’re losing all your friends, Tarly.

Maester Aemon isn’t getting better… and dies in the night. Ser Alliser Thorne is a but of course, telling Sam he’s losing all his friends… which is kind of true, since Maester Aemon is now dead, Grenn is dead, Pyp is dead, and Jon and Eddison is beyond the wall… but he didn’t have to be so mean about it.

Bastards can climb high in the world…

Ramsay is shorter than Sansa hehe. Sansa doesn’t look amused even though Ramsay was complementing her, and takes the chance of his back turned to her to grab a corkscrew… Stannis is making his way to Winterfell to take it, but his army is suffering in the snow that has come. Ramsay says he’s going to be Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North one day, but Sansa reminds him that his stepmother is having a baby, who could be a son, who would then have a stronger claim to Winterfell since he’s trueborn and not a bastard like him, even though he’s been naturalized by Tommen Baratheon (another bastard). Ramsay doesn’t look amused. Ramsay tells Sansa about Jon, who’s currently Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. Of course there’s a reason he called Sansa… and that reason is because Theon is a FREAKING CHICKEN AND COWARD, because he told Ramsay about the help she wanted (lighting the candle), which then resulted in the poor little old lady being freaking FLAYED by Ramsay. Ugh. Ramsay. Seriously, kill him already.

If I retreat again, I’ll become the king who ran.

Stannis’ army is not enjoying the cold. Horses are dying and men are leaving because of the cold. Who makes these intricate pieces they use on the map? Does it come with the map? Like when you buy Monopoly and the tokens come in the box? Anyway… Stannis refuses to retreat to Castle Black and insists on going forward. Melissandre assures him that she has seen herself walking along Winterfell, the flayed man banners lowered, but sometimes sacrifices must be made… of course. Ugh. Last time, they had Gendry, Robert Baratheon’s bastard for his blood, which she believes (I don’t know if I should believe it too) is the reason why Robb Stark and Joffrey Baratheon is dead. Only this time, they don’t have Robert’s bastard… what they DO have, which Melissandre insists is better, is Shireen. Please don’t freaking kill Shireen. She is so sweet and cute and just so friendly. Stannis refuses (for now, I’m thinking) to sacrifice his daughter.

Gilly is just minding her own business when 2 men of the Night’s Watch come in. Of course they want her, but she refuses. Sam comes in to save the day… but not really, because he gets beat up pretty bad. Good thing Ghost comes in and scares them off. Later, when Gilly is taking care of Sam’s wounds, one thing leads to another and they umm… get it on… At least there’s actual consent this time!

Jorah and Tyrion are brought to bidded out to fight in the fighting pits. Jorah’s up first, and the slaver from the previous episode alters Jorah’s story quite a bit to make him sound cooler. A dude buys him for 20 gold something… I didn’t catch the currency. Edit: Apparently it’s honors. 20 gold honors.. what a weird currency. Tyrion insists that he dude has to buy him too because Jorah and him are a team and that he’s a great fighter too, but of course people don’t believe him because of his stature. So Tyrion beats up the kid that was holding the chain to his neck collar, and the dude takes him too.

All rulers are either butchers or meat.

Daario and Daenerys get… ahem… closer. Daario tells Daenerys to marry him instead, but she insists she can’t. Darrio also makes a suggest to her which I can’t decide if is good or not yet. He advises her to gather all the masters on the day of the great game, and to slaughter them all. Daenerys refuses.

You are the few, we are the many. When the many stop fearing the few….

Lady Olenna comes to speak with the High Sparrow. She tries to offer him gold, but he doesn’t need it. They essentially just talk back and forth but nothing really happens. Olenna threatens to stop sending crops, and the High Sparrow says as if it won’t matter. Lady Olenna gets a message from Littlefinger.

Any man who has to say, “I am the king” is no true king. –Tywin Lannister (3×10)

Tommen won’t eat, Cersei is worried. Tommen is mad, Cersei is kind of happy… Probably because he just yelled “I am the king” just like Joffrey used to. He would call the army, take back the sept, and kill every last one of them… again, something Joffrey would say. Cersei insists on spekaing to the High Sparrow on his behalf, which of course she won’t do. But of course Tommen would believe his mother.

Jaime gets to speak with Myrcella… kind of. She sounds like a Disney princess when she says, “I’m going to marry him (Trystane)”, when she is so young… but I guess it’s normal for medieval times for people to marry young?

Bronn is in a cell across from the Sand Snakes. The cut he got earlier is from a blade that is coated in poison. The poison started to act, and to get the cure, he had to admit that Tyene was the most beautiful woman in the world… weird, but okay.

Lady Olenna meets Littlefinger in his old brothel. We find out for sure that she and Littlefinger worked together to murder Joffrey. Littlefinger is giving Lady Olenna a handsome young man?

I am the gift. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Your Grace. My name is Tyrion Lannister.

The free men (or slaves?) get ready to fight, and whoever wins gets to fight in fron to of the queen. Jorah isn’t one of the many who were chosen to fight. According to tradition, the ruler, which is now Daenerys, had to visit the lower pits, make rounds before the great games. Jorah later finds out that she’s there from the men yelling that the queen is here. Jorah grabs his sword, runs out, and kills them all. When he reveals himself, Daenerys orders him taken away, but he stops her. Meanwhile, Tyrion is still in chained to the wall in the “locker rooms” (you know, the place the fighters sit before going out to fight), trying to get free, when this big dude walks up to him with a big sword… and cuts the chain for him. Tyrion walks out just in time, right when men are taking him away. TYRION AND DAENERYS FINALLY MEET!

Get out, you hateful bitch!

Prison has definitely taken its toll on Margaery. Cersei comes to visit Margaery with some venison for her, which she later throws at Cersei. Cersei lies to her about Tommen going to the High Sparrow to talk, since she told Tommen she was going to do it. Lies come easily to Cersei, like she’s just making normal conversation. I can hardly lie without laughing. Margaery has pretty bad aim… I would have at least looked where I was throwing that venison to at least get Cersei in the face and hair or at least dirty her dress. Oh well.

What will we find, when we strip away your finery? –High Sparrow to Cersei Lannister

Cersei goes to see the High Sparrow. There would be a trial for both Loras and Margaery. There would be 7 septons to judge, like it was before the Targaryens. If one or both confess before the trial, they’re at the Mother’s Mercy, which means the punishment would depend on the act. Cersei is about to leave when the High Sparrow starts talking about the church/chapel/sept… the oldest structure in King’s Landing, made by a guy who didn’t take credit for it. When stripped of the gold and finery, all that’s left is something simple. The High Sparrow says that the Tyrell will be stripped of their finery, and that just makes Cersei’s smirk grow. Until the High Sparrow started talking about a young man that came to him, broken in spirit with much weighing him down. Piece by piece, he let go of vanity, pride, and sin. That young man just happen to be Lancel Lannister, the cousin Cersei slept with in season 1. Her smirk is now gone. She tries to leave, but the Faith capture her and throw her in a cell. Even thrown into prison, she’s still scary.

Look at me… Look at my face… It’s the last thing you’ll see before you die.

FINALLY! An episode ending I’m (and surely, many others) are happy with. Cersei finally has something happening to her. It’s also all her fault, really, arming the Faith, giving them power and people… now it’s coming back to bite her in the butt.

ONLY 3 MORE EPISODES TO GO!!!

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken

So… Let’s see what all happened the past 2 episodes… whoever’s reading this…

Arya is cleaning yet another dead body… for reasons unknown to us TV watchers. The older girl from before comes to tell Arya to get back to work when Arya tries to walk through the door left ajar. Arya asks who she is, and the older girl tells her story… which turned out to be a lie. Arya was just sleeping peacefully when Jaqen H’ghar asked who she was. She starts telling her story, getting hit every time she lied. She got smacked when she said he hated the Hound, and again when she answered yes to “Does she truly want to be no one?”

Yes Jorah, we remember that you’re slowly turning into a zombie. Tyrion reveals to Jorah that he killed Tywin, and I don’t think Jorah knew how to react. Jorah also didn’t know that his father’s dead, apparently… murdered by his own men.

No… A girl is not ready to become no one, but she’s ready to become someone else.

Arya is sweeping again, when a dude comes in with a sick girl. Arya lied to the girl saying that she’s like her, her father brought her here (lies… Ned died in Westeros), and that she drank the water and lived. All the while, Jaqen H’ghar watches Arya. Obviously, the sick girl dies soon after, and Arya is seen cleaning her body. She follows Jaqen through the door, down some steps, and finally arrives in a super creepy room full of dead people’s heads in slots in columns like fancy spice racks. So this is where the bodies go…

Doesn’t mean she’s going to be a great queen.

Tyrion questions why Jorah is sided with Daenerys when the Mormonts sided against the Targaryens during Robert’s Rebellion. Jorah tells Tyrion about when Daenerys climbed into Drogo’s funeral pyre and emerged with her dragons, but Tyrion is still cynical about her. Tyrion clearly has good reasons why having dragons doesn’t mean Daenerys is going to be a great queen, and that’s why he’s one of the best and smartest characters on the show. Jorah is just blinded by love and wants to get out of the friendzone. They come across a slave ship, and are captured. Jorah is to be working in some mines, while Tyrion is going to stay alive until they can find someone who wants a drawf’s umm… you know… part. It’s said to be for good luck… okay. The slaver person reveals that they’re going to Volantis, not Slaver’s Bay, when Jorah says that Daenerys banned salvery, and the dude also mentions how the fighting pits are reopened. Prime moment for Tyrion to talk up Jorah to be a great warrior. It also helped that Jorah told them he defeated a Dothraki rider. The dude chuckles darkly (muahaha never thought I’d get to write that).

Name me Warden of the North.

Littlefinger arrives in Westeros and encounters the sparrows (if I remember correctly). Littlefinger isn’t easily fazed, even though he was kind of threatened by Lancel and his sparrow gang. Cersei has an excuse for everything, clearly, when Littlefinger asked if it was wise to arrest the heir to Highgarden (Loras).

I live to serve the crown.

Littlefinger, the dumb-dumb with too many motives and too big of an ego (in my opinion), reveals to Cersei that he found Sansa, and that she’s living in Winterfell. She’s to marry Ramsay, which would help legitimize the Bolton’s claim on the North. She wants to skin them, but Littlefinger advises patience. Littlefinger volunteers to help her capture Winterfell once Stannis defeats the Boltons and still recovering. All he wants is to be Warden of the North… no big deal.

Trystane wants to marry Myrcella. They’re cute… I like them.

Jaime and Bronn get closer to the Water Gardens.

Ellaria give a prep talk to the Sand Snakes, and they set off to get Myrcella…

…at the same time that Jaime and Bronn reaches Trystane and Myrcella making out. Bronn knocks Trystane out when he tries to pull his sword. The Sand Snakes arrive and Jaime and Bronn have to fight them.. quite unfairly, since there’s 3 of the Sand Snakes and 2 of the others, one with a golden hand. Bronn gets slashed by one of the Sand Snakes (it’s important.. kind of, not really.. for later). Before anything gets too serious, the big dude with the spear arrives… umm… let me imdb to find his name real quick… Areo Hotah! HBO hyped up the Sand Snakes to be so cool, but they haven’t done much so far…

You can smell the shit from 5 miles away.

Olenna Tyrell is here to take care of the deal with Loras. Olenna tries to threaten Cersei and the crown by saying she would stop supplying the troops, wheat, and gold the crown needs, but obviously, Cersei is unfazed. She tries to reassure Lady Olenna that there’s clearly nothing to be worried about… But there IS something to be worried about, since Loras IS gay.

I am the Queen.

Loras is up for “trial” by the High Sparrow. Loras denies all charges of gay-related activity he asks him, and he’s dismissed. Before they can leave, Margaery is called forward. Margaery obviously says that the charges against her brother are lies. Before they can leave, Olyvar is brought in.. the dude that works for Littlefinger and has a sort-of-relationship with Loras. He clearly doesn’t care for Loras much, or got paid, or something, since he reveals the truth, also throwing Margaery under the bus when he states that Margaery walked in on them (which she did), and therefore knows that his brother is gay. Cersei tries to be the good guy when she says that these charges are disgraceful, and shaming to a great house. She obviously doesn’t mean it… I mean, it’s Cersei.

I am Sansa Stark of Winterfell… This is my home, and you can’t frighten me.

Myranda comes and help Sansa shower, to be “clean and fresh” for Ramsay when they get married tonight. I wonder what hair dye she used that’s so easily washed away. Myranda tries to scare Sansa by telling her of the previous girls… all of which are hunted down and dead, I’m assuming. Sansa calls Myranda out on her love for Ramsay, and dismisses her shortly after.

Theon comes to bring Sansa to the godswood, where she’ll be marrying Ramsay (ugh). For the first time (I think) in this series, someone is finally dressed to look warm enough to walk in snow. Sansa’s dress looks thick and warm, and she has long sleeves under the dress, and a shawl over her shoulder. Her ears might be a bit cold though.. Roose Bolton marries Ramsay and Sansa, and they get married.

I hate the ending of this episode. Ramsay, the sick dude he is, insists that Theon stay in the room while he freaking rapes Sansa on their wedding night. I mean, really?! They finally made her to be such a cool, smart, maybe a little cunning character, and they do this?! I know something similar happens to Jeyne Poole, her best friend, in the books, but this is SANSA STARK! How can they do this to her! I’m not the only one mad either. People on Tumblr and Facebook claim that they’re not going to watch next episode. I know I will, because it’s GoT. But really… this is one of the worst episode endings.. and there’s a lot that has happened in this series. Ugh…

Kill the Boy

So… quite a long “Previously on” this week… that’s never a good sign.

Grey Worm is alive! Badly injured, it seems, with Missandei watching over him. Ser Barristan, on the other hand, didn’t make it out alive. Daario advices that she use the pyramid as a headquarter of sorts, and start cleaning out the city until there’s no where left to hide. Daenerys decides to round the leaders of each house, which includes Hizdahr zo Loraq, the representative dude that’s been asking her to reopen the fighting pits. They all go down to the dragon dungeon, where one (or is it two) of the leaders were burnt and shared by Viserion and Rhaegal as a meal.

You will find little joy in your command, but with luck, you will find the strength to do what needs to be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy, and let the man be born.

Sam reads a letter from… someone… to Maester Aemon about Daenery’s moves in Meereen. Jon comes to ask Maester Aemon for advice, about what he’s about to do with the wildlings. Maester Aemon tells him to do whatever it is, no matter what it is, even if half the men would hate him after he gives the order.

Jon talks to… umm… I don’t remember his name… the dude that’s tall, big beard, kind of the leader under Mance. Jon asks him to go gather the other wildlinds beyond the wall, and get them back south of the wall before winter, and to fight with him when the time comes. To be behind the wall before the White Walkers come and kill them all. The dude agrees, only if Jon goes with them, to reassure the rest of the wildlings that the ships won’t go up in flames once they agree.

Obviously, the Night’s Watch aren’t too happy about his decision. I think they’re just blinded by hate, which is understandable. They argue that wildlings kill their families and other people, but the Night’s Watch have also been killing wildings that could have their own wildling family. Do they not get, or understand, that if they don’t come behind the wall and the White Walkers get to them first, they, the Night’s Watch, will have that many more White Walkers to kill? I get it, I do, wildlings kill their friends and family… but can’t that be set aside for survival first? Anyway… Everyone’s mad about his decision. While they’re yelling and disagreeing, Stannis is in the corner of the room correcting their grammar hehe. Olly gives Jon the cold shoulder after his command, unhappy about the decision too.

I served Lady Catelyn… I serve her still… Who do you serve?

Brienne is still on her quest to get to Winterfell to Sansa to protect her. She tries to get a message to Sansa through a housekeeper.

Myranda, Ramsay’s secret lover, isn’t happy that he’s about to marry Sansa. They have weird… umm… tastes… They’re both very pale… wonder if that’s healthy.

A housekeeper comes to tell Sansa about how to get help if she ever needs it: lighting a candle and putting it in the highest window of the broken tower. She then ventures out to what I assume is the broken tower…? When Myranda comes up to her and tries to make conversation. Myranda says it’s nice that Sansa made her own dress, using the skills Catelyn taught her, as a way to remember her mother, and segways into the real purpose she sought Sansa out. Myranda says she has something to help Sansa remember, then leaders her to the dog.. cages? Where she finds Theon sleeping in one of the cells.

Theon tells Ramsay that Sansa saw him, and Ramsay looks like he’s about to do something really bad, but actually doesn’t…

The Boltons and Sansa have dinner, when Ramsay makes a toast, which leads to him finishing his wine, which leads to him asking Theon, or Reek, I guess, for more wine. Ramsay asks Theon to apologize to Sansa for killing her brothers.. even if he didn’t. He then asks Theon to give away Sansa in their wedding, since he’s the closest living kin she has. Ugh, he’s weird, and crazy, and just plain cruel. Walda Frey, now Bolton too, I guess, announces that she’s pregnant, which makes Ramsay mad.

Ramsay isn’t happy Roose is about to have a trueborn son. Roose then asks why Ramsay has never ask about his mother, which is when he admitted to raping Ramsay’s mother but keeping him when he saw baby Ramsay. Probably because he saw how crazy Ramsay was going to grow up to be…

Stannis comes in to talk to Sam, and we find out that Sam’s dad is the one that defeated Robert in one of the battles he ever lost. He asks Sam how he killed the White Walker, and Sam informs him of the dragon glass. Sam is instructed to keep reading.

Stannis’ crew leave the wall (finally!), marching south to capture Winterfell, then eventually King’s Landing, if they survive.

Grey Worm wakes up after being out for 3 days. He admits to Missandei he was afraid when he was stabbed and fell to the ground. She assumes he was saying that he’s afraid of dying, but that wasn’t the case.

I fear I never again see Missandei from the island of Naath.

Can I just give Grey Worm a big “Awwwww” because of that statement. Missandei gives Grey Worm a smooch for that.

Daenerys is out of advisors and asks Missandei of her opinion on what she should do. Missandei informs Daenerys that there were times she took her advisor’s advice, and times she didn’t, because she saw a better choice they didn’t. Apparently the better choice that only Daenerys can see is to not only open the fighting pits, but also to marry Hizdahr zo Loraq. Darrio isn’t going to happy about that.

Long sullen silences and the occasional punch in the face… the Mormont way.

Tyrion finally wakes up after being knocked out by Jorah in the last episode. They are still on the boat on the way to Meereen, and Jorah takes them through Valyria to get there. While sailing, Tyrion spots a dragon, which turns out to be Drogon, who just casually flies above head and out of the shot. Stone Men pop up from the ruins and attack them. Being touched by  Stone Men would make whoever got touched slowly turn into one of them, the same thing that happened to Lady Shireen’s face before they were able to stop it. Jorah is busy fighting them off, Tyrion is still bound, and more Stone Men jump into their boat. Tyrion later rolls off the boat into the river, but gets pulled down by another, and the screen fades to black.

And that’s the end of the episode…

Just kidding. He later wakes up, and Jorah finally cuts his binds. They have to walk from now to the next village and to hopefully get a boat to get to Meereen.. of course their journey can’t be smooth sailing… get it? Smooth sailing? They’re sailing a boat? Anyway……. Jorah pulls up his sleeve to reveal that one of them did indeed touch him, and that he has a small patch growing on his forearm…

Sons of the Harpy

So… episode 5!

From last time, Jorah kidnapped Tyrion. Jorah steals a boat to deliver Tyrion to someone…

Jaime and Bronn are on their ship on the way to Dorne. Jaime says they’re rescuing his niece, to which Bronn questions him a bit, but doesn’t ask further. Bronn asks why Jaime won’t send an army, one of the few who actually does have an army.

He murdered my father. If I ever see him, I’ll split him in two.

Jaime doesn’t want to start a war, and insists it has to be him. Bronn asks Jaime to give Tyrion his regards if he ever sees him… Jaime’s not so happy about that.

Apparently the crown owes the Iron Bank quite a bit. Mace Tyrell offers to front the amount the Iron Bank is asking for, but I don’t think Cersei wants to owe the Tyrells anymore. She sends Mace Tyrell as a representative to go talk to the Iron Bank. Meryn Trant is to go with Mace Tyrell.

Cersei comes to see the High Sparrow. She’s proposing to bring back the Faith Militant, which was disbanded hundreds of years ago, with the High Sparrow as a leader. Looks like she’s going the religion way to get back at… someone. The Faith Militant are dressed in black cloaks, with a symbol cut into their forehead, a star of sorts, or maybe it’s a sun… within a circle. They go around destroying barrels of ale (? I think), statues, and brothels… everything they deem to be wrong and sinful. Ser Loras Tyrell, who was just practicing (I’m assuming) fighting, minding his own business, gets captured too… because he’s gay. Cersei is clearly getting back at Margaery with this one.

Margaery, of course, gets mad. She asks Tommen why Loras is in a cell, and he obviously doesn’t know. Poor Tommen is too innocent to see why Cersei and Margaery aren’t getting along. Tommen offers to set Loras free. He goes to see his mother and demand Loras be freed. Cersei is smart… she’s technically not holding Loras, so she can’t free him. Which means Tommen has to go see the High Sparrow… but it wasn’t possible, since the Faith Militant blocked his way into the Great Sept. People in the street start yelling bastard, abomination, and other things at Tommen. Poor kid. Margaery’s not happy, obviously. Again, poor kid.

Selyse and Stannis watch Jon fight. Stannis marches on Winterfell soon… apparently. Melissandre reminds Stannis of the Battle of Blackwater Bay, where he left her behind, and telling him to not leave her behind again. He’s not.

There’s only one war… life against death.

Jon sits in his office… signing papers… for something. Oh, he’s asking for men. Sam’s nice. Jon refuses to sign to ask Roose Bolton, but Sam reasons with him, and Jon signs the paper. Melissandre comes in to ask Jon to ride with them when they go to Winterfell, his former home. Jon says Castle Black is his home now. Melissandre wants to show Jon what he’s fighting for, Jon asks if she’s going to show him some vision in the fire. No visions, no magic, just her boobs and stuff… Melissandre asks “Do you feel my heart beating”. How is he supposed to if his hand is on your boob? Your heart isn’t in your boob.. she has to learn some anatomy.

You know nothing, Jon Snow.

Melissandre tries to umm.. create life.. with Jon, but Jon still loves another. (Ygritte! Awwww!) Melissandre leaves while promoting the show (haha).

…You are the Princess Shireen of House Baratheon, and you are my daughter.

Shireen visits her dad in the office. I like her, she’s smart. We get to know how Shireen got her scar… A Dornish trader landed on Dragonstone, arriving with a bunch of stuff, which included a wooden doll. Stannis put the doll in her cradle, and she pressed it to her cheek. He was told she would die, or that she’d grow just enough before dying. People urged him to send her away, before the sickness spread to others. Stannis called every healer, all the maesters on that side of the world. They saved her life. This made me say “Awww”.

Let’s speak somewhere the dead can’t hear us.

Sansa lights the candles down in the crypt of Winterfell, which is where Littlefinger found her. Finally a little of the backstories I’ve heard about are mentioned in the show. Littlefinger tells Sansa of how Rhaegar Targaryen chose Lyanna Stark instead of his wife at a tourney. Littelfinger is leaving for King’s Landing, as Cersei calls for him. Littlefinger tells Sansa of how Stannis would have to take Winterfell before he could take the Iron Throne, how he would win since he has a bigger army, and name Sansa the Wardeness of the North. If Stannis were to lose, Littlefinger advises Sansa make Ramsay “hers”, and how he’s already fallen for her. Littlefinger kisses Sansa (ew), and promises her that the North would be hers. Sansa has clearly smartened up and become a great character.

Bronn and Jaime arrive in Dorne, just chilling and grilling some snakes to eat for breakfast. Some Dornish men come upon them, and the duo kill them all… well, Bronn more than Jaime.

You must choose… Doran’s way and peace… or my way and war.

Ellaria comes to see her daughters, the Sand Snakes. They want to avenge Oberyn. The ship captain that brought Jaime and Bronn to Dorne betrays them and tells the Sand Snakes who he brought with him. That didn’t turn out so well for him, since he’s now buried in sand with a bucket over his head and scorpions in said bucket. Ellaria figures Jaime’s here for Myrcella. The Sand Snakes stand behind their mother, choosing war.

Tyrion annoys the heck out of Jorah, making him take the gag out of Tyrion’s mouth. Jorah says he’s taking Tyrion to Daenerys… which was where Tyrion was already headed. Oh Jorah, if only you’d listened and accept that you’re way past the friendzone now (especially with Daario in the picture) and that you’re too old for her. Tyrion figures who Jorah is in almost no time at all. Jorah’s hoping Daenerys would execute Tyrion and pardon him, which makes him mad enough to slap Tyrion into unconsciousness.

Ser Barristan tells Daenerys tales of her brother, of how Rhaegar would sing, earn money, and use the money for various uses. Daario comes to call Daenerys to the audience chamber. Daenerys sends Ser Barristan away, thinking she won’t need him in the audience chamber today.

Hizdahr zo Loraq (the representative dude I didn’t know the name of before) comes to urge Daenerys to open the pits again. Second Sons are killed by the Sons of the Harpy while chilling at a brothel of sorts, attracting Unsullied to them. The lady clearly are working for them, since she sent the Unsullied their way, leading them to their death. Unsullied are surround by Sons of the Harpy, clearly outnumbered. Fighting ensues. One of them turns out to be Grey Worm. Ser Barristan sees people running… and runs the opposite way! He arrives to help kill the Sons of the Harpy, but still is outnumbered. Oh gosh this isn’t going to end well. He’s badass though. He killed a bunch of them. Oh no! Oh gosh! He’s stabbed! Still taking people out. NOOOOO!! He’s stabbed in the chest! Grey Worm kills the other guy before his throat could be slit. Oh gosh.

I hate this. They make us (the audience) all nice and chummy with characters by making them tell cute stories about characters, just to make their death more heartwrenching. I don’t think Grey Worm is dead, since there’s a part in the trailer that clearly hasn’t happened yet in the series that he’s alive for. There’s a very, very high chance Ser Barristan is dead though… Ugh. One more week for the next episode!

High Sparrow

So… Third episode in and I just noticed… In the intro, Winterfell is no longer burning, which is great, but the Bolton’s banners are on the building!! Noooo!!!! Anyway….

The episode begins with… a dark place with statues and stuff? Oh, it’s the House of Black and White. Apparently Arya have been sweeping this place for days, and nothing has happened. Jaqen H’ghar tells Arya that she has to be no one if she wants to be a faceless man.

Cersei travels in a carriage to Tommen and Margaery’s wedding, looking quite unhappy… Surprise! No one dies at this wedding! I’m glad they increased Tommen’s age in the TV show… They seem quite nice together, and Tommen seems very sweet. Margaery casually brings up the concept of going home, and Cersei, and how she’ll never let Tommen out of her sight.

Tommen and Cersei walk along the walls of King’s Landing when Tommen brings up the topic of Casterly Rock to Cersei. Cersei has said before that Casterly Rock was her true home, and it seems new King Tommen is trying to convince his mother to go home. Wonder if anyone influenced that decision… *cought*Margaery*cough*

Margaery chats with her girlfriends about Tommen in bed. Cersei visits and seems quite sad…? Cersei offers to help Margaery with anything she needs before abruptly leaving, looking quite determined once her back is turned.

Winterfell is taken over by the Boltons (sad face). Theon is Reek now and looks quite distraught. I would be too if I saw people just casually hanging up flayed men by the front door. Roose Bolton discusses with Ramsay Bolton about holding the North.

The Warden of the North would always be a Stark.

Since the Boltons don’t have enough men to hold the North, the Boltons have to do something about it. Their pact with Tywin Lannister died with him, and they wouldn’t win if the other houses of the North decided to rise up against them. Everyone becomes a great house by going into alliances with other houses. The best way to forge a lasting alliance is by marriage. Looks like Roose Bolton is going to marry Ramsay off! Poor girl, whoever she is.

…Oh. Looks like I was wrong about my guess from the first episode. Sansa and Littlefinger weren’t going to Casterly Rock… they were on their way to Moat Caitlin. Looks like the marriage proposal was for Sansa… to Ramsay.

There’s no justice in the world, not unless we make it. You loved your family… avenge them.
–Littlefinger to Sansa

Sansa refuses, of course. Littlefinger convinces her to do it by telling her to stop running and fight. You can see the moment she decides to do it. Sansa is becoming such a strong character. A sad little girl complaining about everything no more…

Nasty little shits aren’t worth crying over. –Renly to Brienne

Brienne and Podrick are seen looking at Sansa and Littlefinger from a cliff. Podrick cleans Brienne’s shoes while they discuss how he came to be Tyrion’s squire. Brienne decides to teach Podrick how to fight. One thing though, Podrick knows how to make a fire. Looks quite easy when he did it… Brienne shares her backstory. Such a sad story. Her father held a ball, and invited dozens of young lords to it. No one noticed how tall she was, fought over each other to dance with her, and told her they wanted to marry her. Turns out it was a prank on her, and that they didn’t mean anything they said at all. Renly stopped her when she tried to run away and told her that they weren’t crying over. He danced with her, and none of the other boys could say anything since he’s the king’s brother.

Jon: I heard it was best to keep your enemies close.

Stannis: Whoever said that didn’t have many enemies.

Stannis comes to Jon’s room (fancy, now that he’s Lord Commander). Stannis brings up the offer of making Jon a Stark again, but Jon refuses. Stannis is also a bit snippy. Jon simply asked how long Stannis’ people are going to be at Castle Black and he asks Jon if he’s bored of them. I would be too if they just suddenly showed up. I mean, they did kill some of the wildlings for the Night’s Watch, but then there’s that weird Red Woman and his soldiers that they had to feed… the Night’s Watch have been feeding the wildling prisoners too! If it were me, I’d ask too…

Ser Davos tries to convince Jon after Stannis leaves.

A girl comes to see Arya and asks who she is. Then proceeds to hit her after Arya answers “no one”. Jaqen H’ghar comes in to stop it. Arya realizes now the cost of being “no one” when he asks her how she came to be surrounded by Arya Stark’s things. She then packs up her clothes and dumps it into the sea. Needle is harder to part with, since Jon gave it to her. It’s a piece of home, a part of her, something to remind her of her family. So she hid it in some rocks, hoping that maybe one day she can come back to it…? Arya and the girl then gets called to come clean a dude’s (I’m assuming) dead body, with no explanation to the audience of why whatsoever.

The North remembers

Sansa and Littlefinger officially arrive in Winterfell (I think), and the Boltons are there to welcome them. Sansa is taller than Ramsay hehe. Myranda is seen to be quite jealous of Ramsay’s new intended. A little old lady shows Sansa to her room, and as she leaves addresses Sansa as Lady Stark. I’m thinking she’s not too happy with the Boltons either.

Jon is now sat at the cool table in front of the room now that he’s Lord Commander. He names Alliser Thorne as First Ranger, due to his experience. He then appoints Janos Slynt (the bald dude who hid in the room with Gilly and her baby while the wildlings attacked in season 3 episode 9, Waterchers on the Wall), Greyguard, a castle along the wall that has been abandoned for two hundred years and is largely collapsed. Since he was once the Commander of the City Watch in King’s Landing, he has quite a large ego and refuses.

You mistake me, my lord. That was a command, not an offer.

Janos still refuses after Jon commands it. Jon asks if he refuses his order, to which Janos tells Jon to stick his order up his “bastard ass”. Jon’s not having any of that, and orders people to take Janos outside, and for Olly (his steward) to bring him his sword. Alliser Thorne, no longer acting Commander, clearly has no more power, and makes the right decision by side-stepping the other people and giving way for them to grab Janos. Jon takes one more drink before stepping outside… to chop the dude’s head off…? (Stannis watches from the balcony). Janos freaks out and apologizes, saying he’s wrong, and asks for mercy. Too late, dude. Off comes Janos’ head. Looks like Stannis approves…

A dude is in the brothel with naked women walking around him. Apparently he’s role playing? And each woman represents the 7 gods. Turns out the dude is the High Septon… should High Septons really be behaving like this? Anyway. Lancel and other Sparrows come storming in with more people and says that the High Septon profaned their faith. Can’t really argue with that though… The High Septon is stripped and forced to not cover himself and walk the streets. Not that I’m complaining, but why is it alright for woman to show full frontal nudity but not men? Just wondering. The High Septon then comes to tell on them to Cersei and the small council, asking them to arrest the Sparrows and throw them in jail, and to execute the High Sparrow.

Cersei goes to meet the High Sparrow, the leader of the Sparrows. Apparently it smells bad, from Cersei’s face and action, where the High Sparrow is… He seems like a good guy, although I think not practical…? From Cersei’s face, she has a plan for the High Sparrow.

Qyburn is seen killing a mouse? And Cersei comes in to ask him to send a letter to Littlefinger… wherever he is. And the letter apparently has the word “immediately”. There’s a dude under the sheet in Qyburn’s.. umm.. lab?… that apparently doesn’t want to be there. Wonder who that is.

Sansa roams around (again I guess) Winterfell, but doesn’t notice that Theon is there, shoveling… stuff. Ramsay and Littlefinger watch Sansa from above, and Ramsay seems normal (for now). Roose Bolton and Littlefinger talk about their deal… which entails Sansa being married to Ramsay, I guess.

Every ambitious move is a gamble.

Roose Bolton asks Littlefinger if he’s not afraid of the Lannisters, and apparently he isn’t. Tywin was the one who kept the house in power, and now that he’s dead, the house is not like it was. Jaime has one hand, Tommen is soft, and Cersei is no longer the queen. The letter that Cersei sent traveled pretty quick, as it is now in Baelish’s hand. So they have an alliance.

Seems like this episode is quite packed… Sorry it’s so long.

Tyrion is still stuck in his carriage with Varys. Tyrion still wants to go outside, Varys still refuses to let him out. Tyrion gets his wish and him and Varys get out of the carriage and onto the streets of Volantis. They come across a woman with a bunch of people around her. She’s a priestess…? She talks about Daenerys, calling her a savior reborn from the fire. They then find a brothel, where Jorah Mormont turns out to be in too… and a Daenerys cosplayed person in the brothel too.

I need to speak to someone with hair. (the line that made me laugh out loud)

Tyrion walks up to a woman (sorry, don’t want to call them whore), and starts talking to her. He couldn’t go through it because of… guess who… Shae! (I think.. and maybe a little bit of Tysha?) Poor Tyrion. Again, poor Tyrion, who was just peacefully peeing, when Jorah kidnaps him.

……Aaaand that’s the end. Only 7 more weeks before this season’s over! And then you book readers would be as lost as us show watchers hehe. I plan to read some of the books over the summer, I’m very determined.

The House of Black and White

So… Arya finally gets to Braavos! The captain drops her off in front of the House of Black and White. Arya knocks on the door looking for Jaqen H’ghar, but the man at the door says there’s no one by that name. Arya kind of gives up and throws her coin away into the sea.

Sansa and Littlefinger were just chillin’ at an inn/pub sort of place when Podrick spots them across the room. Sansa and Littlefinger discuss the scroll he got in the previous episode, and it turns out to be a marriage proposal, which was accepted. Brienne approaches them while Podrick goes to ready the horse. Brienne offers Sansa her service, but she refuses due to Brienne’s track record: Renly and Catelyn both dead and Arya refusing her service. Brienne attacks on of the guards and they follow her and Podrick into the woods. Brienne kills ’em all and follow Sansa and Littlefinger to wherever they’re going.

Cersei receives mail from Dorne: a unique necklace she gave Myrcella hanging from a red viper’s mouth. The Martells (and maybe the Dornish people) blame the Lannisters for the death of Oberyn and Elia Martell (and her children). Jaime offers to go to Dorne to get Myrcella, and he enlists the help of Bronn.

We do not mutilate little girls for vengeance.

Ellaria Sand urges Doran Martell, Oberyn’s older brother, to take action against his death. Ellaria proposes Doran give her Myrcella, which then she’ll proceed to send back to Cersei… a finger at a time. Doran refuses. Ellaria has the support of the Sand Snakes, Oberyn’s bastards, to revenge their father.

Daario and Grey Worm walk through the city looking for the house with the Son of the Harpy. They find one hiding in a wall, which then they proceed to bring to Daenerys. Ser Barristan convinces Daenerys to give him a fair trial by reminding her why people called her father the Mad King, while the slave representative dude tries to convince Daenerys to just kill him. Dany decides to give the Son of the Harpy dude a trial.

Tyrion and Varys are in a carriage on the way to Volantis, a checkpoint before they reach Meereen. Tyrion is apparently very bored, and wants to take a walk, which he can’t. Cersei has put out word to reward anyone who can bring her his head.

The qualification of loyalty… far more than the eunuch ever had, far more than many ever have.
–Cersei on Qyburn

Someone brings Cersei a dwarf’s head, which is a wrong one, of course. She goes to the small council meeting as a self-appointed Hand of the King, saying the king (Tommen) will choose one when he is ready… which is probably never, if she gets her way. She assigns Lord Tyrell as the Master of Ships and Coins, Qyburn (the weird doctor) as the new Master of Whispers, and Ser Kevan, Tywin’s brother, as the new Master of War. Ser Kevan, however, refuses to act or believe this without hearing it from the king himself, saying that he can be found at Casterly Rock.

All your books and you still don’t know [what people would do].

Lady Shireen teaches Gilly the alphabet while Sam reads the history of the previous Lord Commanders. Lady Selyse comes in to talk to Lady Shireen, Sam and Gilly leave the room. Lady Selyse warns Shireen against Gilly, saying that she’s a wildling, and that the wildlings would attack her dad by striking at her. Shireen refuses to believe her mother, saying Gilly would never hurt her (which is true).

Stannis confronts Jon about his actions (killing Mance Rayder before he can burn to death). Stannis shows Jon a letter from Bear Island, an island in the North and the home to House Mormont. They refuse to bow down to Stannis, only agreeing to bow down to House Stark.

Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is Stark.

Jon informs Stannis that the wildlings would never accepts him (Stannis) as their leader, only one of their own would suffice. Stannis tries to get Jon to give him the North, but Jon disagrees, saying he’s a bastard. Stannis then argues that if Jon bows down to him, he would legitimize Jon and make him Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell.

It’s election day at the Night’s Watch! Alliser Thorne and Denys Mallister are up for president… wait, umm… Lord Commander, and voting was about to start when Sam speaks up and puts Jon up for the run too. The voting ends with a draw between Jon and Ser Alliser, when Maester Aemon breaks the tie by voting for Jon, making him the 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.

Arya had just killed a pigeon and was just strolling about the streets when 3 boys come up to her and kind of bully her. They quickly turn and run away when the man from the House of Black and White steps out from behind a building and sees them. The man returns the coin to Arya saying she dropped it, and reveals who he really is. Turns out, the dude is Jaqen H’ghar, the faceless man Arya met in Harrenhal in season 1.

The slave representative person went down to the (I’m assuming) dungeons to see the Son of the Harpy dude. The slave representative person ended up killing the dude and makes Daenerys… very mad.

The law is the law.

Daenerys orders him taken away (meaning outside), and she makes a speech about law and punishment. She announces that the punishment is death for violating the law, and the people of Meereen ask her for mercy. Since Dany has already decided she’s going to be a political disaster, she signals to Daario to cut his head. The slaves start hissing at her, clearly unhappy that she killed one of their own.

Dany was just chillin’ on her balcony when a noise draws her attention behind her, and she is confronted with Drogon, who just flies away into the night….

Clearly, she desperately needs Tyrion’s help, since she can’t seem to make the right decisions. I mean, I get that her intentions are good, freeing people and abolishing slavery, but shouldn’t she make better decisions that can keep her people happy? She had to send an ambassador to Yunkai, who came back with conditions, which she refused, because she’s a queen. It’s not like they proposed to bring back slavery, they just wanted the fighting pits back, a tradition they’ve had for a long time. She can’t just get rid of tradition and stuff. *sigh* I liked her before, but she’s just making mistakes left and right now.

The Wars to Come

So…. GAME OF THRONES SEASON 5 PREMIERED TODAY!!

And yes, I’m doing this again.

We start of with 2 girls walking through the woods who I figured out later was Cersei and a friend. They go to this hut in the woods and there’s a lady there, a witch and a fortune teller, apparently. It’s blood magic, so Cersei had to cut her finger and the woman (who I googled and is Maggy), drank it and allowed Cersei 3 questions.

Everyone wants to know their future, until they know their future

Cersei asks when she’ll marry the prince (who at the time was Rhaegar Targaryen), the witch says no, she’ll be marry the king. She’s going to be queen for a time, until someone younger and more beautiful comes along. She won’t be having children with the king. The king will have 20 children, but she’ll have 3.

Gold will be their crowns, gold their shrouds.

Cersei is on her way to see Tywin’s body and pay respects. Jaime is there, standing watch over his body. Thankfully, they don’t do anything this time (unlike last time with Joffrey’s death). They talk…

Varys lets Tyrion out of his crate once they’re safely in Pentos, and Tyrion goes straight for the wine… which he throws up around 4 cups later.

The statue on top of the pyramid is being torn down in Meereen, and I’m betting that makes a whole lot of people mad. An Unsullied is seen going to the “red light district” and into a brothel. Since they… umm… don’t have all their bits and pieces, I was a bit confused why he was there. All is made clear when they just cuddle on the bed and she sings to the soldier…. until one of those dudes with the masks on slits his throat in bed. I knew someone was going to be mad about that statue being torn down (actually I read about it after the trailer came out…) Danaerys is informed that one of her soldiers was killed by the Sons of the Harpy (the religious group in Meereen.. I think).

Missandei asks Grey Worm why they, the Unsullied, go to brothels since… you know… they don’t have their bits and pieces. Grey Worm says he doesn’t know…

Jon Snow teaches Olly how to fight at the Wall, Sam and Gilly chat about whether she’s going to be sent away again, and Alliser Thorne is the new Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. Melisandre comes to fetch Jon Snow for Stannis, making their elevator ride to the top of the Wall very awkward if he was a virgin. Stannis tells Jon of his plan to recruit the wildlings into his army to take Winterfell from Roose Bolton (who killed Robb at the Red Wedding). He says he’s going to make them citizens once they’ve won. It’s Jon’s job to convince Mance Rayder to bend the knee and swear loyalty to Stannis.

Sansa is with Baelish watch Robin practice sword fighting at the Vale (I’m assuming). Robin’s not really good at it… Baelish receives a letter while there, which I’m assuming says that Tywin is dead, but I’m just guessing.

Brienne doesn’t want Podrick as her squire anymore, and was mean to him.

Sansa and Baelish ride right by Brienne and Podrick, on their way West. I’m guessing that they’re going to Casterly Rock… if the letter he got really did say that Tywin is dead, that kind of makes sense. I DON’T KNOW, I’M GUESSING.

Loras is very bad with offering condolences to Cersei. She sees Lancel Lannister again, but he’s now one of the Sparrows, a religious movement. They discuss stuff, Cersei laughs that he says he led her into the dark, saying that he tempted her into their unnatural relations (because, you know, they’re cousins and they slept together). Clearly, he doesn’t really know her. She’s been in the dark quite a while, Lancel.

Loras is in bed with Olyvar. Margaery barges in while they’re making out. Since Margaery is marrying Tommen, Cersei’s going to be her mother by law, but all Margaery says when Loras brings this up is, “Perhaps”.

Tyrion is still drinking while Varys tries to convince him he has a greater purpose.

The Seven Kingdom needs someone stronger than Tommen but gentler than Stannis. A monarch who can intimidate the high lords and inspire the people. A ruler loved by millions with a powerful army and the right family name.

Good luck finding him.

Who said anything about him?

Tyrion decides to drink himself to death while riding to Meereen with Varys to meet Danaerys.

Daario is back with the ambassador person (I really don’t know his name) and report about the situation they were sent to take care of in Yunkai. Everything works, but they want the fighting pits to be reopened. Dany refuses, of course. Daario tries to convince Dany to reopen the fighting pits while pouring wine for her after they clearly slept together. He also said stuff to make her go see her dragons. They’re not happy. I mean, of course they’re not happy. She locked them up in a cave with chains around their neck for who knows how long.

Jon tries to convice Mance to join Stannis. He refuses. Mance learns he’s going to be burnt to death. While being burnt to death later, Jon shows him mercy and gives Mance some dignity by shooting him with an arrow before he could scream and be burned to death.

THE END of the first episode. Kinda sad there was no Arya and very little Sansa screen time. But overall good first episode!
